Real Name: Princess 'Kory' Koriand'r of Tamaran.
Height: 6'4
Weight 152lbs
Eyes: Green, no pupils
Hair: Red
Skin: Orange
POWERS- Kory's powers derive from her Tamaranean physiology. Her physiology allows her to absorb solar energy and use this to fly at great speeds an altitudes. She is able to fly unaided in space. Thanks to the Psion experimentation, Kory's solar energy can also be used in powerful blasts of force that have concussive effects. At their most powerful, her blasts compare to the destructive properties of a star. Her limit of storing energy is unknown but is presumed to be close to that of Superman. Kory is also extremely strong, having the strength of a dozen Earth men. Her warrior heritage and mentality make her a fearsome combatant. She is also skilled in hand to hand combat due to her extensive training, to such an extent that she has taken part in contests with the Amazons.
Koriand'r is the second of three children born to Tamaran's ruling family. Her older sister, Komand'r, was born deformed by Tamaranean standards. Unable to fly, she was deemed incapable to eventually rule the world as its Queen. The royal line was instead handed down to her younger sister, Koriand'r. Komand'r resented Koriand'r's position and eventual ascension breeding a deep hatred of her sister. A passionate rivalry grew between the two with Komand'r plotting to harm her sister in any way possible.
In time, the sisters were sent for training to the Warlords of Okaara. Whilst here they learnt the art of combat and the rules of governing. Whilst Tamaran was a planet that searched for peace and promoted it, they were a race, quick to anger and fierce fighters in war. Komand'r finally left Tamaran, and joined with her planet's greatest enemies, the Citadel. The Citadel already ruled the other 21 worlds in the Vegas system, and only Tamaran was permitted its freedom. However, such a time came when The Citadel wished for total dominance over the Vegan system. The Citadel invaded peaceful Tamaran and quickly crippled its defences. As part of the reparations of war, The Citadel demanded that Koriand'r be handed over to them. Koriandr's father, Myand'r accepted. His daughter would be sacrificed, but the paradise that was Tamaran would endure. It was Komand'r who finally banished her sister into humiliating slavery for six harsh years. But during it all Koriand'r never gave up hope.
In time the two sisters were captured by an alien race of soulless scientists, called the Psions. Their mission was to experiment endlessly on random beings. Wishing to discover how much solar energy a body could absorb, the Psions carried out numerous, torturous experiments on the girls. Unbeknownst to the Psions, the Tamaranean physiology could absorb solar energy, which gave the race the ability to fly. Rather than destroy the sisters, the Psions gave them the ability to absorb the solar energy and redirect in destructive blasts known as Starbolts.
Eventually the sisters escaped and Koriand'r made it to Earth, where she sought refuge with Raven's newly formed Teen Titans. The group soon travelled to Tamaran and vanquished both the Citadel and the Psions, thus freeing Tamaran. Koriand'r elected to return to Earth as she had developed feelings for Robin, Dick Grayson. During her time with the team Koriand'r started to take the nickname Kory and became close friends with Donna Troy as well as watching her relationship with Dick blossom.
Kory soon returned to Tamaran, only to learn that the planet was on the verge of civil war, thanks to Komand'r. Tamaran was split into two main ruling houses. Kory's ruled the Northern continent, whilst a rival kingdom ruled the Southern continent of Kalapatt. To keep the peace, Myand'r agreed to the arranged marriage of Kory to Karras, heir to the Southern continent. This marriage was completely political as both Kory and Karras had other lovers. Kory went through with the marriage but, whilst it secured peace on Tamaran, her relationship with Dick, (now known as Nightwing) became immensely strained. Komand'r then seized control of Tamaran believing to have eliminated any opposition. Kory tried to depose her sister, only to discover that Komand'r was a more popular ruler amongst the Tamaraneans. The Council of Elders decided that Komand'r should continue to rule, but that her parents should act as her advisors. Kory was disgusted with this decision and left Tamaran for Earth once more. Before leaving she informed Karras that she had no feelings for him. Later Kory would return to Karras' side when Tamaran was threatened by two criminals, one being Karras' sister. After a pitched battle, Karras died trying to stop his sister and her lover from carrying out a bomb threat.
After returning from Tamaran the first time, Kory was captured, along with other past and present members of the Titans, by the Wildebeest Society. A team of Deathstroke, Nightwing, Troia, Pantha, Phantasm, Arella and Red Star, tracked them down and discovered that the leader of the Wildebeests was actually their own teammate, Jericho. Jericho has been possessed by the tainted souls of Azarath and acted as a vessel for them. After Deathstroke was forced to kill his own son, in order to stop the souls spreading to the other captive Titans, the Titans managed to defeat the Wildebeests. However, Raven mysteriously disappeared and was presumed dead for a long time.
Soon a different version of Raven emerged. Whilst it appeared that she was still the same person, this Raven was inherently evil. Her evil consciousness, having survived the battle with the Wildebeests, was intent on finding vessels in which to plant the seeds of her demon father, Trigon's, children.
For a time the Titans (as they had become known) had a tumultuous line up. Kory left to go to Tamaran, where she saw Karras die, and also left the team to get some personal space. Dick remained with the team throughout but his relationship with Kory became even more strained due to their distance and Gotham City requiring his attention. In an attempt to salvage their relationship, Dick impulsively proposed to Kory who, swept up in the moment, accepted. The couple almost wed but the wedding was interrupted by the new, evil, Raven. Brutally attacking Kory, Raven murdered the vicar and destroyed Dick and Kory's relationshjip. Kory dealt with this trauma by undergoing a Tamaranean warrior ritual that left her a changed woman. When Dick left the Titans, Kory travelled back to her home planet of Tamaran and the two never tried to reignite the relationship. Unknown to Kory, Raven had implanted her with the seed of the good Raven. It was under her influence that Kory left Earth, taking her away from the evil Raven's influence.
On Tamaran, Kory met and fell in love with a general in the army, named Ph'yzzon. After a brief courtship, Kory had her third wedding and second husband. Elsewhere, Kory's former teammate, Cyborg, had merged with the alien race, the Technis, in an effort to save their race. Cyborg was reunited with his teammates when Raven again tried to destroy her good self. In order to lure Kory to Earth so that she could attack the dormant seed within her, Raven initiated a conflict within the Vegan system that resulted in the destruction of Tamaran and the Technis race. Whilst much of the Tamaran population was off world at the time of the planet's destruction, Kory could only watch as her parents elected to stay on the planet and die.
After Raven was reborn from the seed within Kory and the evil Raven was destroyed, Kory decided that she should rebuild her society on a new planet. Gathering the Tamaraneans who were off world at the time of the explosion, Kory settled them on a new planet, dubbed New Tamaran. The new civilisation had a short life though. When the Sun Eater was ravaging the galaxy, New Tamaran lay in its path. An alien woman, named Dusk, tried to warn New Tamaran but Komand'r, who was the planet's elected leader, was too xenophobic to listen. When Kory tried to warn the people after hearing the woman's warning, she was labelled a traitor by Komand'r and was forced to leave the planet, and found herself looking on again as her home world was destroyed, this time claiming the life of her new husband, who had bravely led New Tamaran's forces against the Sun Eater. It also appeared that Komand'r had too died in the explosion. However, she has since been revealed to have been granted life by the H'San Ntall and is alive in the 30th century with the ability to fly.
During the Technis Imperative conflict, Kory again aided the Titans, opposing the Justice League's intervention in 'Titan Business'. Eventually working with the League, Kory helped to save the Earth from Cyborg who had been programmed to assimilate the moon. Deciding to reform, Kory elected to become a full time Titan once again, feeling she had no other home to return to. During the conflict Kory and Dick shared a brief moment when the two declared that they would care about each other as friends. Whilst with the Titans, Kory found that her warrior mentality often went against the team's dynamic and also found her relationship with Dick awkward, despite the pair's pledge, as they had never had real closure on their relationship.
Whilst with the Titans, Kory received an urgent summons from her brother, Ryand'r. Responding to the call, Kory and some of her Titans teammates, journeyed to the planet Karna. Upon arriving, the Titans helped Ryand'r to repel an apparent Gordinian invasion of the planet. Apparently a group of Tamaraneans had settled on the planet after the explosion of New Tamaran. During the battle the Titans discovered that the Tamaraneans were actually the invading party and had launched the invasion of Karna, not only in hopes of securing a new home but also in striking a blow against their former enemies and oppressors. Kory knew than Karna was the Gordinian home planet and had duped her teammates into helping her. The Titans settled the conflict peaceably. An able ambassador, Tempest used his skills to wager a peace between the two races emphasising the respect due to the Tamaraneans and the unprofitable nature of the Gordinian slave trade. Choosing to share the planet, the Tamaraneans agreed to teach the Gordinians trades outside of slavery and helped bolster their galactic reputation. Apologizing for her deception, Kory chose to remain on Karna and rebuild her culture as Princess. Bidding a tearful farewell to Dick via communique, Kory told him she would always love him.
But again, Kory and her people were not to find peace. Tragedy struck during the Imperiex crisis and a series of Imperiex probes destroyed Karna. Seeing a third Tamaranean home planet destroyed, Kory abandoned the dream of settling her people and remained on Earth.
Recently, Kory has formed a new team of Teen Titans. Following the break up of the Titans and Young Justice, due to the death of Kory's good friend, Troia, Kory, along with Cyborg and Beast Boy, has taken the role of tutor and mentor to the younger superheroes, providing experience and wisdom from someone who has been in their place. Acting almost as a headmistress to the younger heroes, Kory has gained the respect of Robin, Kid Flash, Superboy and Wonder Girl. Kory took this role in full seriousness as she wished to prevent any further loss in her's or the younger heroes' lives.
Recently Kory has grown close to Dick again and was there for him at the anniversary of his parents' death when he visited their grave. However, she was aware of Dick growing colder and with his new "Batman like" attitude to his new team the Outsiders, Kory was brought in by the team's new leader Jade as extra firepower and a way of calming down tensions between Dick, Arsenal and Jade.
Shortly after joining the Outsiders, Kory witnessed Doctor Light holding Green Arrow hostage and demanding that the Teen Titans come and face him. Since Light requested only the Titans, she came up with a plan. While the current Teen Titans fought him, Kory recruited everyone that had ever been a Titan, and Nightwing led a full on assault against Light. After the battle was won, Starfire returned with Nightwing and Arsenal to Outsiders’ HQ.
When Arsenal learned that Deathstroke was really supplying the team with their Intel, he initiated a lockdown on HQ. He interviewed each member one at a time, but due to Kory’s alien heritage, he had to use unconventional means. Roy had to use a molotereen, which is an alien torture device that was used on her when she was a slave, but he had removed all the pain stimulators. This act brought back bad memories for Starfire, but she went through with her interrogation.
When the lockdown ended, it was believed that Shift was the traitor, but when the team received a distress call from Robin, Indigo revealed herself to be the true traitor as she was actually Brainiac 8. Brainiac 8 went through each member and defeated them rather efficiently. As the last one still standing, Kory melted off her hand and engaged her in a hand-to-hand battle. Unfortunately, she was still taken down and had to be saved by Roy, who forced the android to teleport away.
The Outsiders went to aid the Teen Titans, but when they arrived, both teams were attacked by an army of Superman Robots. After the robots were defeated, the teams fought Brainiac, Brainiac 8, Superboy, and Lex Luthor. Eventually, Nightwing told Kory to stop holding back and to use her powers fully in order to destroy Brainiac’s ship. After the battlefield was cleared of innocents, Kory unleashed a devastating blast that took down Brainiac and forced Lex to flee. Sadly, Indigo did not survive the battle.
When Supergirl fought the Teen Titans at the Kent Family farm in Smallville, Kid Flash retrieved Kory from New York so that she could talk to Supergirl. Starfire took Supergirl to meet up with the Outsiders. Starfire eventually accompanied Supergirl on her search for Lex Luthor, but she was shot through the shoulder and crash-landed. When she came to, Supergirl was unconscious and Kory roused her. Supergirl was able to cauterize her wound and she lived to fight another day.
Starfire spent a night of passion with Nightwing, but it did not spark any of their old feelings for each other. After Arsenal and Jade blew up HQ, the Outsiders were only to meet when they were called. Starfire was called into action shortly after this in order to battle Sabbac and the remaining Fearsome Five. Donna Troy arrived to aid the team in battle, and when it was over, she recruited Starfire and a few others to join her on New Chronos in order to prevent a devastating war in space.
Before they left, Starfire took the time to say goodbye to Dick, then ventured to New Chronos. Immediately after her arrival, she sensed the presence of the tamaranian goddess X’hal. Taking Jade and Shift with her in a travel sphere, the trio went to search for X’hal. Unfortunately, they were attacked by Blackfire who had just been pretending to be the goddess in order to lure Kory to her. They were incapacitated and taken to Blackfire’s ship.
On the ship, Starfire fought Blackfire, who was more powerful than ever, and with the help of her friends, she knocked her out. Unfortunately, Blackfire was just playing possum and when Kory got close enough, she grabbed her and siphoned off her power, especially the devastating supernova ability. Donna and company arrived and Blackfire retreated.
Before they reached the center of the universe, Starfire taught everyone the art of war and battle techniques. When the reached the center, Donna’s team first tried to stop the fighting between the Rann and Thannagarian fleets, but when Alex Luthor of Earth-3 began his experiments, all fighting ceased. Starfire was among those gathered that tried to stop Alex’s schemes in space, but after Superboy sacrificed his life, wave after wave of reality warping energy began assaulting everyone present.
Adam Strange attempted to activate his Zeta Beam but the beam was affected by the energy and caused a number of catastrophic events before teleporting some to Earth. Unfortunately, Starfire was not one of the people sent back to Earth, and she landed with Adam Strange and Animal on an uncharted planet. While Adam tried to rebuild their ship, Starfire and Animal man began to eat the fruit native to the planet and it had adverse affects on their personalities.
At Strange’s insistence, Starfire flew away to clear her head but she was captured by Devilance the Pursuer. Animal Man and Strange were later captured when they came looking for Starfire. It turns out that Devilance had booby trapped the entire planet in order to capture them since they saw something in space that no mortal was ever meant to see. Working together, they defeated their captor by turning his traps against him. Using Devilance’s lance, they now had their power source for their ship.
Raven brought Starfire back to Earth, where she has assumed the role of guidance to the new Titans.
