*slings down a thread of web*
Hello!
*echos*Hello!Hello!Hello!
Ahem...anyway...
I don't know if anyone still comes around here or not, so I don't know if this message will be read. The last time I actually popped in and participated was two years ago. Too long, even for me. I mean, I've procrastinated for long periods between posts, but....
Sorry. No rambling. Trying to talk.
I pop over here from time to time to see if anyone is or has been around, and for the longest time there has at the very least seen one person listed in the recent activities box down below. Which is good, knowing that people show up regardless to chat. It showed that the old girl wasn't lonely. Didn't make me feel any less guilty for not being around anymore, but it helped to know that a place that has been a place of joy and change for me was soldiering on.
Cut to tonight.
I hadn't popped over here in several months, so I don't know when and how it happened, but this place had changed. I guess Proboards, in an effort to innovate and stay interesting to people, has made some changes here and there. For one thing, the overall appearance hasn't changed, except the header and navigation buttons. Not too bad, though I miss the custom headers and buttons. The other thing is the way it's trying to be more social, by adding Facebook features like "follow", "friends", and "gifts". Honestly, I'm glad these features weren't around during Comic Fun's hayday. For some reason I just see this as pointless and hazardous. Another change is the way the writing screen has changed. Now this I really like. Not only is it bigger and a little more comprehensive, but it gives you the option to preview your work prior to posting without adding a "view" to the thread. AND IT LETS YOU KNOW IF YOU TYPED A WORD INCORRECTLY!
Overall, these aren't huge changes that affect the this place, but I'm not doing cartwheels. Then again, maybe it's not my place to criticizes, not being here in such a long time. Maybe I'm an old man who doesn't like change and misses the glory days. But if I am an old man, then screw it, I'll say whatever I damn well please. *shakes spidey cane*
I do have an idea as to why there may not have been any activity here. The good ol' chat box is gone. The source of endless hours of convo.'s, plot planning, role playing, arguments, and straight-up randomness is no more. I guess whoever was paying for it has either neglected to continue to pay, or chose it was time to stop the talk as it were. Either way, it is just one more sign of the inevitable.
It happens to the best, and as a certain red-headed deity might say, "To everything, there is a season." Or was that Jesus?
Anyway, this place is still like home for me, and the thought of staying away forever seems like the last thing I want. Still, I don't know if/when I would come back, or if I had any juice left to create again. But if I do come back, I hope to have one or two nice memories again. Until then, I wish every person who has every walk these halls the best, and hope one day we will meet again.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
