First Name: Kagome
Last Name: Higurashi
Alias or Nick-name: I don't think she has one.
Age: 15
Height/Weight: Kagome is 5'4". She is about the middle size for her age. Her weight is around: 100 pounds.
Eyes: Kagome has dark hazel oracles with a few other hues of brown for that softer look.
Hair: Kagome has thick locks of dark ebony hair. It is a tad longer than shoulder-legnth, and has a very silky feeling to it.
Persuasion: Good.
Powers/Weapons: Kagome has quite a few weapons and special abilities.
Jewel Detecting:
This mean Kagome is able to sense the Sacred Shikon Jewel shard. While others have a vague ability to see Shikon shards, only Kagome is able to sense the shards remotely.
Time Travel:
Kagome can travel back and forth 500 years between the present and the Feudal era. Kagome seems to be only able to time travel when she has a Shikon Jewel shard with her or is with InuYasha. Soon, though, it seemed the restriction was dropped, for she probably grew more powerful.
Spiritual Powers:
Kagome can pass through barriers, spells, and/or illusions. This includes those created by Kikyo(or anyone else for that matter) (as she and Kikyo share one soul). Kagome is also able to sense evil auras and is unaffected by them. If possible, she is able to surround herself with her own spiritual powers to ward of any evil. Kagome is also able to create the giant spiritual orb that Kikyo once made.
Bow and Arrow:
Kagome uses a basic bow as a weapon. Once she infuses her powers into the bow, she can use it to reflect an enemy's attack. Kagome uses a shortbow.
Sit Command-snickers-:
The string of beads, a.k.a. the Beads of Subjugation, placed around InuYasha's neck by Kaede is empowered to "subdue" him at a word from Kagome. This forces InuYasha to the ground whenever she says the word "sit". The effect wears off very quickly and InuYasha is able to get up again.
Purification/Miko Powers (Hama no reiryoku)
This ability means anything Kagome touches gets purified. By gathering an enormous amount of concentrated power into her right palm, she can direct it at her opponents. She only does this when the jewel is inside her body. This was used on the Mukade Jōrō and Urasue to some effect. She also uses this to purify the Jewel.
History: This story really begins 500 years ago in fuedal Japan.
A shinto Priestess, Kikyou, was charged with the task of protecting the Shikon no tama (jewel of 4 souls, the Shikon jewel) The Shikon jewel has great power that can be influenced by the person using it to be good or evil. Kikyou's exceptional purification powers where thought to be the best way to keep the jewel from great destruction in the hands of evil.
When Kikyou died, she demanded that the jewel be burned with her, so that noone else will fall victim to it's destiny.
500 years later, Kikyou's soul is reincarnated into Kagome.
In the modern era, Kagome Higurashi is a 15 year old girl in middle school and the daughter of a family of shrine keepers. Just as she is about to leave for school one day, her brother Sôta asks her to fetch their cat, Buyo, who has gone into an old shrine with an ancient well. The task doesn't take more than a few minutes, but before she can leave, a demon, Mistress Centipede, grabs her and takes her into the well. Kagome and the demon are surprised when Kagome manages to fend her off.
Mistress Centipede is actually after the Shikon no tama, which is inside of Kagome's body, residual effect from being Kikyou's reincarnation.
When Kagome emerges once again from the well, she finds that she is back in time, in the fuedal era.
Mistress Centipede has not given up, and Kagome is forced to release Inuyasha, who has been sealed to a tree by Kikyou's arrow for 50 years.
Inuyasha defeats Mistress Centipede, and comments on how like Kikyou Kagome is, but she does not smell like her.
Kikyou's little sister Kaede (now an old woman) shows up to the scene, as she is now the head priestess, and the villiagers fear Inuyasha's reserection.
Kaede throws the magickal prayer beads around Inuyasha's neck, placing a spell so that Kagome has the ability to subdue him.
Kagome actually chose the words "sit boy!" as the trigger for this spell herself.
A carrion crow takes off with the Shikon no tama, and in a panic, Kagome shoots an arrow (at this time she has never even used a bow before) and accidently shatters the jewel, spreading shards everywhere.
Now she must team up with Inuyasha, on a quest to put all the shards back together.
On their trip, they run into Shippo: the fox demon, Miroku: a Buddist priest, and Sango; a demon hunter, with Kirara, a demon cat.
Together they quest to gather all the shards.
Kagome falls in love with Inuyasha, and tries really hard to help gather the shards, while also passing back through the well to her own time, and continuing her school lessons.
Naraku, a half-demon of sorts made from the soul of onegumo (a human man who loved Kikyou) and many MANY demons, wanted the jewel, and his deception lead to Kikyou's original death. Once the jewel was broken into shards, he was able to gather most of them himself, to raise his power.
Currently in the Manga, Naraku owns all but one of the jewel shards, the shard that is still keeping Sango's brother Kohaku, alive.
Also in the manga: Kikyou is finally dead, she is now within Kagome's soul for good. There is still speculation that this is one of the reasons Kagome has become more powerfull. But we wouldn't want that to discredit all of the work Kagome has done on her own to grow.
Kagome knows that they will have to face Naraku to end the disaster she started when she broke the Shikon no tama, and she has vowed to put everything right again.
