Whither their chain of destiny was damaged, they became corrupted by avarice, or where attacked by another hollow... they are transformed into theese voraceous, 'empty' demons, who instinctually try to fill that void by devouring the souls of the living and the dead.

Arrancar are Hollows who, by removing their masks, have evolved into humanoid creatures who's powers mimmic thoes of Soul Reapers, who scour the endless wastes of Hueco Mundo. The strongest of these creatures are known as the Espada, who, commanded by former Soul Reaper Souske Aisen, reside in the fortress Los Noches.
