Name: Alice Vance
Alias/Code Name: Girlzilla
Age: 18
Character Type: Mutant
Gender: Female
Alignment: Good
Appearance:
Personality: Alice is a very sweet, kind girl. She’s got a good head on her shoulders, and a heart that’s even bigger than she is. In many ways, this is a blessing. She is a shoulder you can lean on, an extra helping hand, and someone to talk to when you need it. While generally she keeps a upbeat attitude, she has a bad habit of bottling up her troubles rather than letting them out, not wanting to force her troubles on others. This, certainly, is not a good thing. And it is unfortunate that she also has a tendency to place the blame on herself, taking it off of others, even when the fault isn’t her’s to bear. She’s somewhat shy at times, having trouble opening up. Prone to overthinking this, she is usually the biggest obstacle in her own way, getting to caught up in the moment, paralyzed by indecision.
Likes: Chris, Kami, Reading, Music, Soft things, authentic Japanese food, Manga, The School.
Dislikes: Violence, Being a burden on others, afraid of being a monster, Kat, violations of her privacy
Strengths: Strong, Very durable, good at reading others, kind, attractive
Weaknesses: Clumsy, prone to feelings of guilt, represses negative emotions, often inconvincened by powers.
Powers/Weapons:
Superhuman Stature: Alice’s body, as a result of her mutant gene, has grown to a tremendous size, reaching a height of 80 ft tall. While proportionally, she is no different from an ordinary girl of her build, her greatly enhanced stature benefits her with heightened strength and durability. She can lift 85 tons, and her skin is tough enough to resist small medium arms fire. Given her longer stride, she can move quite rapidly as well. Despite her increased size, she does not suffer any decrease in agility or speed.
Size reduction: As an act of concentration, Alice can reduce her size by a factor of 15, allowing her to become normal sized. However, her mass stays the same during this period, resulting in her body gaining a truly staggering density. While in a reduced state, her density is such that she is essentially invulnerable to conventional harm, possessing skin that surpasses even the strongest steel in terms of strength. Her physical power is also the same, regardless of her current size, though with her reduced size, she lacks the same leverage of her larger size, which can limit her strength in some situations.
Drawbacks: given her larger size, she has a difficult time manipulating smaller objects, entering buildings, and has to take care not to cause damage to her environment. In her smaller size, she lacks any sense of touch due to her extreme density, and must take care to control her strength. Since she moves with a huge amount of momentum, she can have trouble at times keeping herself from crashing through objects. Indeed, she tends to cause a good amount of unintentional damage to her surroundings. Even when not causing harm, she crushes footprints into the ground, leaving a trail behind herself.
History: Alice was born to two Americans, but raised in Japan. Her father worked for a software company and was forced to move to Kyoto shortly after Alice was born in order to keep his job. Growing up as a child of two cultures, she was bilingual, fluent in English and Japanese. Her childhood was fairly unremarkable. She was never outstanding in sports or academics, but usually averaged to keep her grades around a B.
In high school, Alice expected to have growth spurts, which were normal. What wasn’t normal was leaving for school in brand new cloths and coming home in rages, her outfit pulled so tight that it started to rip. Alice was taken to several doctors, whom were at a loss to explain her condition, as it defied the normal behavior of growth disorders. Within a week, Alice was over fourteen feet tall and reduced to wearing several bed sheets like a toga. By this point it was obvious hat Alice did have any normal medical condition, but that she was a mutant. Her parents tried to give her as normal a life as possible, getting donations to keep her fed and clothed as best they could. She attended school, but was now a freak and outcast who had to look through the classroom window to partake in the lessons.
And she continued to grow. Two months after her mutant genes had activated, Alice towered at thirty five feet tall, now weighting over ten tons. Fortunately by this time, her growth began to slow and finally stop. But Alice got a whole new set of problems. The media caught on to her situation and she became a tabloid feeding frenzy. She was constantly followed by camera men, all wanting an interview or a new insight into the life of ‘Girlzilla’ as the started calling her, along with a few perverts who just wanted a shot up her skirt.
Compounding these difficulties was the other people in her neighborhood, many of whom saw Alice as a freak and a danger. She got complains of all kinds, from road workers who had to repave the streets she walked ever month or so from all the damage she did, to angry citizens who all had a story of how she had accidentally stepped on a bike or how her snoring kept them up at night. But the hardest part was money. Even with all the donations and fundraising they did, her parents were slowly going bankrupt keeping there daughter comfortable. Alice offered to do some part time work, selling herself as advertisement, or doing construction work. It helped, but wasn’t enough.
The final straw was when Alice’s secondary power came to life, and she suddenly found herself grown to even larger sizes. Unused to her new height, Alice had trouble maneuvering in the narrow streets, and caused all kinds of mayhem, crushing cars, knocking over telephone poles. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage, all in the span of a few minutes before she managed to return to her usual size. The following day her parents received an official letter from the city, stating that there daughter had become to much a danger to the city and a drain on its resources. They had 180 days to find a new residence outsize the city limits.
Living outside the city would probably kill Alice. She needed the food and water that was obtained through business in the area, and without those, would starve. Searching desperately for someone, anyone who could help them, Alice’s parents got in touch with a school back in America called the Xavier institute for Gifted Youngsters, and it seemed they were willing to offer Alice a place to stay.
Over the course of her time at the institute, she’s made many friends, and has greatly enjoed her time. After a time, she learned how to reduce her size, and is getting better at maneuvering at her current stature every day. Top help with this, she started training with the Danger Room, learning Judo as a way to practice balance and control.
She’s become very close friends with her Roomate Kami, whom she is very devoted to (though occasionally a tad jealous of) She also has found a boyfriend in her fellow Studen, Chris Richardson. Given both of their dispositions, their relationship has been speeding along at a rate coparable to most glaciers. Still, she likes him enough, and has been happy.
During the Age of Apocalypse, Alice was experimented on and transformed into a human Lizard hybrid. In this state, her conscious mind was altered, becoming vicious and predatory, even cannibalistic. A beast with human intelligence, she stalked the landscape until reality was restored.
Upon coming back, Alice was plagued by intermixed memories of the time. Traumatized, she chose to repress the experience, trying to force herself to forget the entire time. Given how few of the students remembered, this was rather easy. However, it also placed a great internal strain on her, which left her mentally drained.
Following Darkness Falls, Alice began experiencing insomnia, to the point where she was having blackouts. Intermixed with this was physical pain and exhaustion, and a general feeling of being ill. Diagnosed as a mostly psychological condition, aftershock from the encounter with the Black Lanterns, it was never considered that the experiments done on her we’re beginning to reappear. When she at last transformed, it caught the entire school by surprise. Doing battle with her peers, she was eventually restrained, and her normal personality restored.
