As some of you are aware, our big hitting super-teams have been sitting on their super-butts for far to long. The Avengers and the Justice League/Justice Society have done diddly for a while, and its time to start changing that. To this end, we've begun plotting on establishing a new villain team that can provide them a challenge.
Now, I'm aware that one of the biggest difficulties with getting villains on a team is that, by their nature, villains tend not to get along. So, as a solution to this problem, we've elected to styalize ourselves in the manner of themafia legitimate businessmen.
As a second note, one that is more for a gimmick than any practicle purpose, we abare looking at having a zodiac theme. Each of the signs would be sort of a title, assigned to the heads of the major divisions of crime Buissiness that the mafia legitimate businessmen would engage in.
This idea is still evolving and changing, and imput would be much appriciated to help shape it.
Below is a list of signs that have been spoken for.
Mr. Sun- The Godfather of the Family. NPC leader of the group who operates from backstage to direct the orginization.
Virgo-Claimed by me-Director of Drug trafficing.
Scorpio-Claimed by Dawn-Director of Prostitution.
Gemini-Director of Mercenary Forces-Claimed by Iron Man
Leo-Claimed by Storm
Capricorn-concierge-Claimed by Spider Man
Cancer-Claimed by Batman-Black market organ sales.
Aries-Director of Weapon Sales-Claimbed by Batman
Tarus-Possibly underground fighting-Claimed by Hawkeye
Pisces-Claimed by anarky (?)
Available Signs
Saggitarius
Libra
Aquarius

I'd definitely be interested in participating in this team of villains. Since Pisces isn't spoken for, how about I take that one? I don't know what kind of businesses have already been decided on except for the ones listed here, but if drug distribution is not taken I could use Bane for that purpose.
I do have two questions regarding where the team is at the moment. Is the team supposed to be a permanent team for bad guys like the Avengers or JL or is it more decentralized, where each villain does his own thing except when a really big profit can be made? Secondly, are the villains supposed to be new characters (as in original characters) or are they already canon villains that are just using code names? Either way I'd like to be involved, but I am curious.

You have brought up several points, and I will seek to address them all as clearly as I can. Pisces is all yours. Drug sales is already covered by Virgo, sorry. Both. A group of twelve villains is a rather large and potentially unwieldy thing. Start adding in hero's to oppose them, and we'd be looking at threads which would have 20+ characters in it, a logistic nightmare. So, any event involving all of them would be be a rare happening. Mostly they might operate in small interchangable groups of two or three, to keep things managable, and would also be free to have their own solo things going on as well. So, to summerize, yes I am hoping for a permenet group. No, I don't expect them to all function as a team in every thread. I'll address the second half first, if I may. It was not my intent for characters to be limited to using the astrological signs as their code names. Rather, the names are functioning as titles, which are assigned to each memeber. They can still have their own super villain code names (I believe Batman has indicated that his character for Cancer would be called Dr. Carapace). In my head, I pictured the group refering to one another only by their signs, to keep ananimity (Mr. Cancer, Ms. Virgo, Ms. Scorpio etc). To the first question, It was my intent for original characters, though If someone felt strongly that a canon character would fit in well with the group and had a reasonable explination for doing so, I can see no real reason to disallow them from memebership, though since pisces is described as being 'compassionate and sensitive' I have trouble seeing Bane in that specific sign Edit: An additional thought. If you are heartset on Bane, perhaps you could run the gambling rackets. I could see him taking a close interest in boxing and wrestling.

Okay, sounds good. I already have some ideas for a character. As far as his "business" money laundering or something along those lines would work. Really, whatever role you need filled is fine.

Allot of this is still in the planning stages, and I believe PG wants people to speak up on all their ideas as well.
What I have to say is more on Format details in this.
Since we are going for a 'mafia' type theme, you have to keep in mind the details of 'Organised Crime' already set in our format by Canon.
This can be both a warning, AND possible plot ideas later on between players. Take it as you will.
But, either way it goes, in our setting, there are Canon Organised crime in certain locations.
Such as: New York. If you plan to do 'business' in New York, it's not just the heroes there you will have to deal with. Kingpin is the head of all Organised Crime, if you're on his Turf, expect his interest. If you don't want to lose around 90% profits in the deal, expect Kingpin to turn you into the local authorities that are on his personal pay-role, and Now you have local thugs out for your head, And the Law. And the Heroes...
Example 2: Gotham City. Granted, we don't have a player using Penguin. But if you step foot in Gotham, for organized crime, it's very likely to meet with his power, before the Bat's. That is Penguin's territory. And if not him, Perhaps 2-face who has his hands in things that direction as well in Gotham. And Goddess forbid anyone try to do something on the Joker's watch...
I'm not trying to discourage, I'm trying to keep everyone mindful of their settings, AND possibly encourage some interesting cross overs.
A team styled in this way can get heroes and villains alike into some plottage.
