Name: Miles Jeffries
Alias/Code Name: Azzurro
Age: 25
Character Type: Mechanically Enhanced Human (human who wears a super powered suit/armor)
Gender: Male
Alignment: Anti-Hero
Appearance: Miles would be considered an average size human being by today's standards. He is a young, Caucasian male with dark black hair and bright green eyes. His eyes have been described by some as having an "emerald" sheen to them. He often wears his hair in a spiky fashion, and his skin is fairly pale, resulting in him being nicknamed "snowflake" among the people he has provided supplies to. In terms of his body frame, Miles is a somewhat lanky individual. He stands at 5'10 and weighs roughly 165 lbs. Miles does not possess a high degree of muscular definition. This is in large part due to the sparse diet he maintained while living on the African continent. Miles has several scars of various lengths on both sides of his body. In particular, Miles has a long scar over his abdominal section and two long scars going from each shoulder down his back. These scars stem from an attack he suffered from a highly trained military unit.
Miles's suit stands at 6'3, thereby allowing Miles to enter into it with room to spare. The suit, being somewhat primitive in design, mirrors the body outline of a human male. The suit has 6 three inch metal spikes protruding from the back of its head. The face of the suit is covered in a highly durable black alloy. The users' facial expressions and emotions can be projected onto this faceplate. Thus, the users eyes and mouth are both projected as bright red lights. The suit itself is covered head to toe in a bright and vivid light blue, traditionally seen as a color of peace. The spikes protruding from the back of the suit's head are also covered in light blue. A large white star rests on the suit's chest. This star originally didn't appear on the suit, but was added later by Miles himself.
Personality: Miles is a mass of contradictions. On the one hand, Miles is an extremely caring individual. After the "Consensus" was enacted (discussed in more detail in the History section) and most of East Africa was nearly destroyed, Miles spent three years as an under the table aid provider in Somalia, giving devastated residents medical supplies, food, clothing and weaponry. Prior to the consensus, Miles had worked as an aid worker for two years in neighboring Ethiopia. Miles recognizes individuals enduring hardships and is always keen to help them out, even at the expensive of his own physical and material prosperity. Miles also maintains a high respect for others' cultural upbringings and has incorporated several aspects of East African culture into his lifestyle.
On the other hand, Miles is a cocky individual whose attitude borders on arrogance. Miles almost always has some sort of sarcastic verbal quip for someone else and in his own mind he is practically invincible. Miles does not shy away from confrontations and has received some severe beat downs by other heroes as a result. To make matters worse, many of these confrontations were not necessary. Miles often looks for trouble in order to test his own skills and endurance. Unfortunately for Miles, he tends to overestimate these two qualities as well.
This same arrogance has also allowed Miles to be tremendously successful. Miles possesses a bulldog-like determination and hates to be on the losing end of anything, much less a fist fight. Miles's determination allows him to protect those he cares about most, even when it appears that such protection might be impossible to provide. Miles also has a strong sense of loyalty. While such loyalty has endeared him to some, it has also made Miles hesitant to embrace allies. As a result, Miles has few contacts in the upper echelons of society and even fewer contacts in the superhero community. Nonetheless, the few contacts and allies Miles does possess are very loyal in turn and are willing to help him in whatever way they can.
Likes: Fighting and fighting related sports, comic books, qat( a stimulant found mostly in East Africa), rap music
Dislikes: the military, country music, losing at anything
Strengths: Super speed, the ability to take immense amounts of damage ("to rag-doll"), energy shields, heat blasts
Weaknesses: Without his suit, Miles possesses none of the aforementioned abilities. Also: lack of strength, lack of ranged and projectile attacks
Powers/Weapons: Miles's suit is made of a composite of various metals and alloys. Due to the hasty nature of the construction process, the suit makes use of derivatives of various high end metals and alloys found in the Marvel universe. As a result, the suit is more susceptible to sustaining physical damage and less resilient than suits used by other heroes of his time-line. On the other hand, the suit has been engendered with an electronic, "Rag-doll Function." Within Miles's suit is an electronic targeting matrix. Essentially this targeting matrix is able to anticipate both the trajectory and landing position of its user, thereby allowing the user to survive damage and awkward landings that would normally prove fatal. Additionally, the derivative alloys used in the suit's construction grant the suit greater flexibility. Thus, while the suit takes damage easily, the amount of damage it can take is very great.
The targeting matrix is also able to track and anticipate the movements of others utilizing the body heat emanated during physical conflict. Although the targeting matrix is not always accurate as an offensive weapon due to the fact that superhuman individuals are often Miles's opponents, it nonetheless allows the suit's user to reasonably anticipate another's action. This allows the suit's user to develop a very rhythmic fighting style. The targeting matrix was used to train Miles once he inhabited the suit.
Miles's suit was primarily designed for melee combat, hence there is only one ranged weapon. This weapon consists of high degree heat blast emanated from the suit's hands. These heat blasts can be used to severely burn an opponent or they can be used to melt through hardened surfaces. Miles typically uses the heat blasts to melt through other objects.
The primitive nature of Miles's suit means that flight is not possible. Instead, Miles's suit has the ability to run and maneuver at incredibly high speeds. The suit has a maximum capacity of 450 mph, although Miles typically travels at around 250 mph. The suit's high speed is designed to neutralize the flight advantages many Marvel heroes have over Miles by giving him an advantaged in ground-based combat. Enhanced reflexes accompany this super-speed.
Lastly, due to the fact that most other heroes can overpower Miles in the strength department, his suit possesses the ability to generate two types of energy shields. The first shield protects Miles from most physical attacks and debris. The second shield is an electro magnetic shield that protects against electric or magnetic, as well as physical attacks. Although each shield is nearly impervious to damage, the primitive nature of Miles's suit means that each shield can only stay active for 30 seconds. The shields take several hours to recharge once used.
History: Miles Jeffries originates from Marvel earth 1911. This earth, like most others, has its fair share of superheroes. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spiderman, etc. all exist in this time-line, just as they do in Marvel's main earth (616). Like in the main Marvel time-line, these heroes fight on behalf of the civilized world, uphold the law and try to bring peace to a troubled planet. In earth 1911, however, the civilized world and those who live in it has been greatly reduced. After many years of fighting to rid the world of crime, super villains and terrorists, disillusioned superheroes were persuaded by Western governments and Japan that crime would never end as the world was now. If world peace was to ever prevail, those areas and people of the world who thwarted the peace process would have to be isolated and then eliminated.
Although some heroes objected to this argument, the majority of superheroes, battered and bruised from their non ending battles against crime and villainy, agreed. Only the implementation and upholding of Western society and law could create a new world. This agreement by heroes to operate at the discretion of Western governments became known as "The Consensus." Once "The Consensus" was reached, implementation of this policy was swift and unforgiving. In accord with the orders of Western governments, all super villains and heroes who did not agree to "The Consensus" were killed. Mutants received the same treatment. Mutants agreeing to work for "The Consensus" were spared, those who resisted were eliminated.
Worse still, areas of the globe who refused to accept Western preconditions of peace were nearly completely destroyed so that they could be rebuilt and inhabited by Western citizens at later points in time. Areas subjected to this devastation included East and Central Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. Miles Jeffries was nearly a victim of this time-line. Jeffries worked as an under the table "caregiver" in Somalia, providing clothing, food, medical equipment and weaponry to the few surviving communities that were still alive. One of the residents in one of these communities was an American scientist who had previously worked as a technology consultant for Western govts. "East Africa Operations." Jeffries had worked as an aid provider in nearby Ethiopia prior to "the Consensus."
As word of Jeffries activities spread, a military unit was dispatched to capture him. This military unit eventually found Jeffries providing aid to a nearby Somali shelter. Although Jeffries managed to escape, both he and the American scientist inhabiting the shelter were severely injured and all other residents were killed. Realizing that Jeffries had risked his life many times over for such devastated residents and that both himself and Miles were near death, the American scientist elected to save Jeffries' life (thereby sacrificing his own).
After restoring Jeffries' health, the American scientist introduced himself and revealed why he had left his post as technology consultant of "The Consensus's" East African Operation. Apparently, the scientist had been working in secret on a super powered suit designed to eliminate the superheroes of this time period. Eliminate superheroes and one eliminates the enforcement of "The Consensus." Due to the fact that the suit was done in secret, however, the unnamed scientist had to use cheaper materials that were easily available, so not to attract attention. Thus, the suit was underpowered in comparison to the heroes of this time period. Nevertheless, the tyranny of "The Consensus" had to be overthrown and this was the best shot everyone had.
As he was dying, this unnamed scientist granted Miles his blessing: take the suit, save as many lives as you can and overthrow the current world order. Eliminate all heroes. Recognizing the light blue color of the suit, Miles coined his new identity Azzurro; the word is Italian for light blue. Italian, of course, is one of the languages spoken in Somalia, especially among aid workers. Fortunately, Azzurro encountered some heroes who are of a more noble persuasion: the Exiles.
