Name: Lieutenant Sasha Dalokohs
Alias/Code Name: Zeme
Age: 27
Character Type: Omega Level Mutant
Gender: Female
Alignment: Good
Height/Weight: 5’10”/ 147lbs
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Appearance:
Personality: Sasha acts every bit the soldier she is. She has a rough exterior, and little tolerance for slackers or lay bouts. She strives to make her every action a deliberate effort, always working towards reaching her goals. She keeps her speech Spartan, which, when coupled with her limited grasp of English often makes her seem unintelligent. She doesn’t mind people who see her that way, since it just means they are underestimating her abilities. Often, she can be seen as a slave driver, but this is only a partially true. She pushes those around her to be the best they can, and while this means making them work hard, she never sets her standards of others so high as to be unreachable. In combat, she holds herself up to the highest standards of honorable behavior. Under neither it all, she has a sort of gentleness about her, one that’s hard to notice, but never entirely overlooked. Those who spend time in her company will inevitably come to notice this softer side. She is like a stern, but loving mother. Fierce, but not cruel.
Likes: Peach Bellini, her country, Winter, working with her hands
Dislikes: Vodka, large bodies of water, idleness, people who fail to live up to her expectations (including herself).
Strengths: Supreme command of geological forces, trained soldier, Multi-lingual, beautiful, talented sculptress, comfortable in the cold, motherly.
Weaknesses: Limited English, difficulty with fine control of abilities, proud, asthmatic, cant swim/hydrophobic, unused to warmer climates, uncomfortable when away from solid ground, computer illiterate
Powers/Weapons:
Geokenisis: Sasha possesses the ability to manipulate the earth and shape it to her will. She can remotely move large volumes of most forms of earth, including, rock, stone, dirt, soil, sand, gemstones, crystals, magma and more. By force of will, she can wield these substances to a variety of ends. She is a sculptress of the earth, and can mold it to her ends.
Her powers allow her to enact virtually any geological process she desires. Loose soil can be instantly compacted into sedimentary stone; solid stone can be torn to dust. Hills can be raised, canyons formed, all at her command. She can form gemstones and crystals, though these are more difficult.
Sasha enjoys a bond with the earth. She can sense anything in contact with the ground out to a range of about 500 yards. This Enables her to locate people and things even if she cannot see them. Remaining immobile does not negate this ability, though it does make it much harder to notice. Though conscious effort, she can probe an area, locating underground objects, different minerals or stone formations. By reading impressions, she can also track individuals who have passed through an area recently. She also can locate magnetic north, and use that to navigate.
Sasha typically chooses to cover herself in a hardened armor of stone when she enters battle. This shell protects her from many forms of harm, as well as enabling her to simulate enhanced strength.
Her preferred method of movement is to draw herself into the ground, where she wraps herself in a small chamber of earth, and propels that rapidly underground. To her destination. She typically travels at 60mph, though can push herself faster if need be. Though she dislikes doing so, she can also create a platform out of stone and fly by riding it. In both cases, she can bring others along with her.
Sasha has a difficult time with fine manipulation of her power. Tossing boulders and causing earthquakes are simple enough, but ask her to move a single pebble and it strains her concentration to its breaking point. The problem is that she is in tune with such a large volume of earth and stone, that channeling focus down to such a small portion of that is a taxing endeavor.
Other abilities
Multi-lingual: Sasha speaks Russian, German, Polish, Greek, Chinese and Korean. She is only just starting to learn English, and has yet to gain any real grasp of it.
Trained soldier: Sasha is trained as a solider, and is proficient with most firearms and versed in several styles of armed and unarmed combat.
Athletics: Sasha possesses the physical abilities normal for a woman of her height and weight who engages in moderate regular exercise.
Weaknesses
Asthmatic: Suffering from asthma since she was a child, Sasha keeps an inhaler on her at all times. While not usually a problem, when she physically overstrains herself or in moments of great stress she can suffer an attack.
Hydrophobia: Sasha has a crippling fear of the water, and panics when her head is submerged. Because of this, she does not know how to swim.
History: Germany, Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq…those we’re just the start. Wars spiraled out of control; alliances between nations grew tighter as they rallied together, each side of the conflict becoming more and more committed to winning, regardless of the cost. Years of war turned to decades, then to generations. The earth was scorched, the land made unusable for anything but more fighting. The Air was choked with smoke, the forests of the earth turned to ash, the seas made toxic. But neither side could stop, both we’re locked in an endless spiral of attack and retaliation. Winning didn’t even seem to be a goal anymore. The Fighting had become its own end.
With the fallout from countless bombings, mutant populations around the world increased dramatically. As many as one in a hundred people had mutant powers. Most we’re immediately drafted into the service of whatever side got a hold of them. That, or tried to make their own faction, only to be stomped out by the other superpowers. It was this world that Sasha called home, this Earth-1746
Her earliest memory was of falling, through ice and cold, into a crushing blackness. She had been five years old at the time, having stumbled onto some thin ice while her village was being relocated in the aftermath of another bombing. She recalls vividly how the chill sunk through to her bones, paralyzing her, drawing the breath from her body as she began to drift downwards. She wasn’t expected to survive, when the finally pulled her out. But her people did not believe in weakness. She would live if she had what it took to live, and would die if she didn’t. That was the rule of the land.
When she was old enough, she was pushed into service for her country, trained to be another cog in the war machine. It was harsh, and even cruel at times. No comfort was offered when she was hurt, no warmth was given when she was cold. Either she’d become a soldier, or she would die. To keep the frontlines supplied, her beloved Russia could not afford such softness.
Sasha recalls vividly her first experience in the battlefield, seeing the death around her, the scream of shells as they crashed down from heaven. She hated it, but she did as she was ordered. She was no killer, she simply loved her country. Survival meant someone else had to die. Her power did not surface till she was already the veteran of a dozen assaults. When it appeared, she single handedly ended a battle, sending a cascade of stone down upon the enemies. It was a wonderful discovery. With it came prestige, and the ability to serve her people. She was called Zeme by the other soldiers in her unit. The name was that of the Slavic deity of the earth and mountains, and she was proud to be known by it.
A decade passed. Continuing to refine and improve her powers, Sasha began to turn the tide of battles. Strong Russia was able to take down her enemies, and at last, some of her people came to know a peace which had been unknown for generations. But all was not well. In the wake of her growing might, other nations began uniting. The sides we’re fighting harder than ever, and the conflict was growing. Left unchecked, the deadlock would lead to only one conclusion, the world being torn apart. Despite her best efforts to bring Peace, Zeme was only to bring destruction if not removed from the war.
That is when the exiles came.
