History:
All files concerning Andreas Brickmoore before the age of 16 have been lost. Had you acquired these files you would find the following:
A nameless infant, later name Andreas, was found in a dumpster on December 10th, 1977. At only 5 lbs 4 ounces, the child was presumed to be a week old. Placed in a small group home by the state, he was abused and mistreated, even neglected, for the first 7 years of his life. He remained a small child, quiet and withdrawn.
His telepathy surfaced unusually early in life, and it was thought that his mother placed him in the dumpster due to the inability to handle the cries of her child within her mind.
Andreas was hated and bullied by the other children in the rough group home, and he was tormented by the uncontrollable ability to hear their thoughts day and night. He spent many nights locked in closets, his hands pressed against his hears as he tired to push their hateful thoughts from his mind.
On his seventh birthday Andreas was finally adopted by Devon Brickmoore, a rich eccentric with a soft spot for mutants. Devon. himself, was unable to sire children and, at nearly 6o years old, he wished to have an heir which he could pass his substantial fortune on to. Devon used every resource at hand, and a few extra, to help the boy both understand and control his gift. Had he been left simply to the affectionate care of Devon Brickmoore the boy would have flourished but that, of course, was not the case.
Mary Ellen Brickmoore was a cold and hateful woman. Her resentment toward her husband's inability to give her children of her own transfered quickly to the boy he had adopted in an attempt to bring his family together. Instead, she used Andreas to vent her pain and anger, often beating him and constantly abusing him emotionally. Andreas was plagued with the knowledge that the woman hated him ore than she hated any other living being. He was also plagued with the knowledge that she spent her days, and many nights, with young lovers. She did not hide her lustful adulterous nature, and the boy could not understand why his "father" clung to the memories of a love long dead.
When Mary Ellen gave birth to a son only 5 months after Devon Brickmoore (68 years old) passed away the boy, lost within grief, could not control his rage. The woman had not even grieved for her husband. On his 16th birthday, only 6 months after Devon Brickmoore's death, he used his gift to push Mary over the edge of insanity. Within her own mind, her persuaded her to set the estate on fire with herself and, presumably, her child within. The entire estate burned to the ground, save for the few books and keepsakes the boy had stashed away in the the six months since his adopted father's death.
Unable to condemn an innocent child to death within the flames, Andreas used Devon's most trusted contacts, and a few of his own, to place the illegitimate James Brickmoore with a family in Massachusetts. The boy, now given a new name, would never know that the truth of his past.
Andreas Brickmoore came out of it all with no more than two lacerations on his left cheek, which would become his most defining mark- a cross-like scar- and a much darker outlook on life.
Now, to look at what the world, at least those within it that care enough to look, knows about Andreas Brickmoore.
At the age of 16, Andreas entered Harvard as the youngest student enrolled in their fall semester. He dropped out halfway through the semester, leaving the Dean with a letter. In th conclusion of the letter he said, quote:
"Not only do you allow fools and ingrates to enter your "esteemed" university, but your curriculum is lacking in content and purpose. I could learn more by spending a single day in a basement methamphetamine lab than I have learned here in half of a semester."
Apparently he was not far off. Within a month of leaving the Ivy League Andreas Brickmoore found himself under the tutelage of one Dr. Killebrew during his time in Canada. He worked with Killebrew on "The Workshop" until its end, though he did not have a lot of contact with the patients. Andreas found that Killebrew's techniques were too blatant for his tastes and he began to put all of his efforts toward developing a means of torture and control that were more suitable to his demeanor and . . . gifts. When "the workshop" met its untimely demise as a project he felt that Killebrew became weak. He was disgusted by Killebrews later need to make amends with subjects such as Deadpool and felt that his death at the hands of Ajax was deserved, if not asked for.
Andreas then spent a number of years both gaining an education the proper way now that he was at a more suitable age as to not stand out, though he did not seemed pleased by the hours behind desks listening to lectures from those he deemed unworthy of his time, and the hands on way. He bounced from Weapon Plus project to Weapon Plus project, never spending more than a few months at any one. He came in contact with a number of mutants pre- and post-successful change. Each project taught him, in succession, what to- and not to- do when it came time to lead his own group.
When the first Project Amber began he finally found himself in a position to test his theories. Given a large amount of control over the discipline of subjects, 25 year old Andreas Brickmoore was finally part of the permanent staff of a project.
Taking this opportunity to learn more about his gift, and truly test his skills, Andreas became the leading voice in torture and control of the subjects at the "Institute for the Neurologically Gifted", Project Amber's cover name. He drove more than one subject over the edge before he began to refine his skills, but he seemed to take great pleasure in contacting the minds of others like him.
Most clearly noted was subject 0-21-A, Luctretia Claymore. She soon became an obsession for the young doctor and when the project was ended prematurely he did not forget her.
In the year and a half between the end of the original Project Amber and the second installation Andreas spent every waking hour refining his control over his mind. By the time the second Project Amber began to take off he could maintain contact with a single mind constantly without depleting his other telepathic abilities. He could still touch the minds of others, break through wall placed in his way, and send thoughts across large distances without letting go of the mind he had his grasp upon.
When Project Destiny began he vied for control, and was first turned away. Many of the committee set up to build the project found his explosive temper dangerous, and his obsession over the subject further worrisome. In the end his ability to avoid physical torture, and his knowledge of genetic manipulation, won out and he finally had his chance to lead a project.
Dr. Andreas Brickmoore does not think of himself as an evil man, but the fact of the matter is that he is a sadistic, calculating, and very controlling man. He has long forgotten the meaning, and the feeling, of love, and he does not waste time with pleasantries. He is a man driven toward goals most would not even consider, and he is not afraid to do whatever it takes to achieve those goals. He does not feel guilt or regret for any of his actions, he may not even remember the definition of the words. In his mind he is a man who stands virtually alone in worth an importance, and he has no scruples against letting anyone who presumes differently know where he stands.
