Name: Shay Manse
Alias or Code-name: none, currently.
Powers/Weapons:
Shay has a belt and a mace of "Nth Metal", an psychoactive alien metal that responds to its user's mental commands. This provides her with the abilty to ignore gravity to the point that she can make immense leaps, hover, run up walls, and other "Hong Kong martial-arts" tricks that normally require wire harnesses. Extended exposure to the Nth Metal has also made this and other abilities innate, fading only with long absence of the belt or mace. She also finds herself very resistant to weaponry and especially blunt trama, bkessed with enhanced senses (especially vision), nearly-superhuman strength, and very rapid healing that allows her to recover from injuries that would cripple a normal person in weeks rather than years.
Shay also has the fighting experiences of her past lives, so she instinctively finds herself being able to use firearms she has never seen before, fight skilled martial artists, and especially to pick up hand-to-hand weaponry and use it as an extension of herself. Combined with her massive strength, she can be a dangerous opponent.
The Nth metal mace is even more frightening in her hand, normally being quite light in her hands (though incredibly heavy to others) until the point of of impact, where an immense amount of mass instantly affects the target. It also seems immune to magic but also affects things harmed by magic.
Origin:
Chay-Ara and Khufu, two souls bound together as one.
Centuries ago, the evil priest Hath-Set slew the lovers with a knife of metal from the skies, tying the fates of the three of to a cycle of death and rebirth.
Again and again they would find themselves together fighting against an incarnation of their ancient enemy.
- in 5th century Britain she was Lady Celia Penbrook, the love of Brian Kent (the Silent Knight)
- Katherine Manser (the gunslinger called "Cinnamon") and her lover Hannibal Hawk were gunned down by Matilda Dunney Roderic in the 1860s
- Sheila Carr loved and died at the side of the Pinkerton detective James Wright.
- she became Sheira Sanders during the golden age of mystery men before World War II. Along with Carter Hall she joined the All-Star Squadron and fought supervillians as Hawkgirl.
- in 1990 the wandering soul was reborn as Kendra Sanders, the gradndaughter of "Speed" Saunders. When Kendra was 16, she commited suicide and her spirit was replaced with that of Shiera, which had refused to leave Earth. Confused by Sheira's memories and the experiences of her past life, Kendra had difficulty finding a place in the world, but eventually joined the new Justice Society along with Hawkman.
-On September 16, 2010 a sixteen-year old girl woke in the wreckage of a burned-out building. After digging her way out of the rubble, the very confused Shay Manse found herself wearing a strange belt and with a heavy mace tied to one of her wrists. She found that she was able to ignore gravity and do impossible stunts and even fly (though without control), that she had immense strength, healed very rapidly, had strangely sharp senses, and seemed to shrug off damage that would incapacitate a normal person.
The confused girl found herself on the street, learning that she and her parents were considered dead when their apartment building was destroyed mysteriously. She found herself having to live hand-to-mouth howeve she could... shoplifting, burglary, and most recently as a surprisingly effective bodyguard for criminal bosses at their clubs. She has become more daring in her burglary as well, beginning to think about corporate espionage and stealing from museums after watching characters doing this on television and in movies.
She knows he's out there. She's supposed to find him... but there's something wrong. There's something wrong with her, but what it is she doesn't know. Why aren't things right? Why does her heart ache for him, and why can't she remember what he looks like?
