When you're trying to be the best, you have to use all the rest.
Ever since Lex saved me from my biggest mistake, he's been showing me things on a whole new level.
Things even Sun Tzu never fathomed.
Lex is a genius in many ways. I've spent a good deal of time recovering from the K poisoning just learning what he has to teach me.
But taking notes, gathering information, is never as good as actual experience.
Hence, my most recent project: The Faction.
I will be 'funding' a team capable of handling the misguided capes, a faction to serve my own ends.
First order of business is creating the proper persona to conceal my true identity.
Easily done, a Platinum Blond wig ( as most people automatically underestimate this hair color.), a smart black business suit: Tight skirt to show off my legs, the jacket cut specifically to accent my breasts, some pumps, and I'm ready to go.
I need to choose a 'leader' for the team, that I can control, someone with specific interests I can exploit.
It took allot of research, but I finally found her.
Silva: Current status: deceased, and still around for revenge.
Her primary interest is taking out a girl named Alyssa, who happens to be on the Titan's roster.
With the Titans as her obstacle to getting to Alyssa, she can't do it alone, and she knows it.
I don't even have to offer her money. Just a promise of back up against the Titans, and she's already on my side.
Finding her wouldn't be easy, for me alone.
Fortunately, I have some resources. A truly nasty little witchlette that I roomed with in college, was only too happy to have a reason to delve into some ritual summoning.
Once summoned, all I had to do was lay out the information, she ate it up. (and with a special charm from my school friend, I also have some insurance against any sort of betrayal from her.)
After her, comes a more technical ally. A young kid with the moniker of Trojan.
His ability with mechanics and computers, he is our equipment man. Or boy, as it is...
He was recently tossed out of some mutant school, for using his abilities for corruption, instead of education.
Finding him, was simple. Incarceration doesn't really give him a chance to hide.
With the proper credentials, getting to see him wasn't hard. It was getting him out of Juvie that would be a real issue.
Some false documents, claiming rehabilitation, and he was legally mine.
He wasn't too happy at first, having no choice in the matter, but I changed that quickly.
Giving him his first assignment: To build us an extremely modified hummer, changed his attitude very well.
Anything beats being bored in a cell.
So I have a 'Leader' and I have our tech, the next thing I need is muscle. A few hard hitters would be nice.
But so far, I only have one that is easily gathered to the team.
Match. A clone similar to Bizarro.
It almost makes my head hurt, the thought of having to deal with another backward speaking beast. Bizarro almost screwed up my last project, before it even got started... and he ruined my car!
Unpredictable and almost uncontrollable elements, aren't the best for any team.
But Match isn't exactly Bizarro. Sure, his mind and speech are on the same level, and they are both deteriorating from incomplete cloning process... but that's about where the similarities end.
Match is younger, and he's not so innocent... his rage against Superboy, will be a useful tool in itself.
Match is good for muscle, As he's got super strength, and tactile teke, just like Superboy. Heat vision and Flight are merely bonuses.
And luckily for me, he's even more susceptible to Kryptonite than Bizarro. I won't have to make a special grade of the rock to convince him to work with me, I can use regular green, the basic stuff.
But that's only as a last resort. I also know that taken after the one he's cloned from, Match has an affinity for teen aged blonds, and I may not be a 'Super Girl' in my team 'persona', but I'm sure I can catch his attention long enough to bring him to the team willingly.
Finding him, wasn't too hard. He was last seen escaping S.T.A.R. labs, with the Titans following him. Front page news. He got away, and there's not allot of places for someone like Match to hide. Especially when he might not even understand the concept of hiding to begin with.
It's almost amazing he's been free this long, but it seems the Titans are too busy shopping to pay attention to the small ones.
Finding Match alone, on the streets, I walk up to him slowly, as one might a lost kitten, a look of sympathy on my face, as I 'reach out' to him:
It still hurts my head trying to speak in a way his twisted mind can understand...
Bye Match! I am not K.
Moving in close enough to convince him I'm friendly, but still enough distance to give me a split second to respond if anything goes wrong.
I don't want you to come with me, I can't give you anything.
The streets are fine, you can live here.
The people are so nice to you here.
It's a good thing I am good at acting my part, I'm able to hide any sort of repulsion as I move even closer, putting my hand on his cheek, looking directly into his eyes,
I don't like you.
You don't want to come with me?
I stand back a bit, watching his response, hoping that I don't have to resort to defending myself with the chunk of K I have hidden on my person.
