Seven Deadly Sins

Just a little theological psychological question to partake in for fun.

Whats your biggest Sin? Why do you succomb to it? Does it consume you, or do you keep it under control?

Simply answer the question, both for you and your characters.

Me- Greed. I like being thrifty, I pinch pennies. Once I had a school assignment to keep track of my spending and income for a period of 90 days. It was easy, given that I spent nothing. If given the chance, I'll hoard anything that even has a half chance of being useful. Dosnt matter if its junk or not, I justify it to myself since I can always throw something away later. Most of the time I can keep it from getting out of hand, but it does mean that I slip sometimes and give up a genuin expence rather than pay for it. Best example is that I get my hair cut short so that I can go a long time without getting another haircut, or wearing shoes until they are so worn that they have to be replaced.

Alice- Envy. Though she's a good peron with an honest nature, there is always that little voice in her head that wishes that she was more normal, especially following COA. Afterall, Envy is a green eyed monster.

Mistress Twilight: Lust. Originally, Lust is a desire for immaterial things, not just sexual pleasure. She lusts for status, power, immortality. Greed as well, in her enjoyment of material things, but these are secondary to her real desires.

Hastur: Sloth. Admittedly, she's a kid, so forgoing hard work for play is to be expected. Sloth also includes despair, a condition which she's quite prone to, lacking a more mature mindset to deal with hardships.

And some speculations for Cannon characters I play.

HiFuMi
Hibiki: Wrath, plain and simple. She's a violent chick who solves problems head on.
Fujiko: Pride. She's the most intelligent of the three, and views things in a very analytical manner, beliving strongly in her own ability to handle situations without depending on others.
Mikiri: Gluttony: Weither or not she intends to,Mikiri is wasteful and ends up taking in to excess. And she eats alot.

Myself- I've got plenty of them swirling around... I would have to say my primary flaw is Greed. I'm a collector, I collect TF's, G.I.Joes, Heroclix, Marvel Universes... and sometimes I tend to go overboard. This one time I blew through my entire paycheck in 2 days. I actually had to return some things to make it to the next one. I'm working on toning it down, but it isn't easy (especially now that Wal-mart is going clearance crazy). Though a close second would be Wrath. I've got a temper... generally I'm laid back but when my fuse is lit, look out. There are a few times where I've nearly been thrown out of Heroclix Tournaments after loosing my cool when my dice 'crapped' out on me.

Harvestman- As a vigilante who hunts down and executes criminals, it's pretty self explanatory. He embodies Wrath. I've been leaving various clues as to what triggerd his bloody crusade... but in time it'll all come out.

Conduit- He and Alice have something else in common I was at first drawing a blank on his shortcomings, but thinking about him, I'd have to say Envy would be his flaw. He's a fanboy, a nerd who idolizes the big boys... and hopes one day to become one.

Lt. Heller- Pride. What do you expect? He's a Nazi. It the figurehead of the ideology he's been raised to follow. While he is nowhere near as bad as his late bodyguard, he is arrogant in his own right.

NPC Ozzy- TIE: Sloth & Gluttony. He's a filthy mongrel of a warewolf who's primary concern is his next meal. Not exactly the same flaws as his commanding officer, but you've got to throw the oddballs in there to liven things up

Dr. Nostra- TIE: Pride & Envy. He's been seriously flawed from the get-go. The man's subconciously in love with himself... the entire motivation of his becoming a doctor was to hold the power of life-and-death over others. It's even to the point he can barely accept his own handicap. But when his body started giving out on him... that his hatred for mutants came into the picture. Subconciously, he's jealous. Their genetic imperfections let them fly around, shoot lazers from their eyes, even re-write reality, but his have left him confined to this wheelchair. As arrogant as he is, he'd never admit to this, so his narcicistic brain twists it around for him. He isn't the one who's sick... they are.
Kind of pitiful when you think about it.

NPC Daga Huesa- TIE: Gluttony & Wrath. She's a hollow. As with all of her kind what remains of her soul has a void left in it, an emptyness, and the sole motivation for their attacking and devouring the souls of the living and the dead is to fill that void, a void wich they can never fill. It's more of a compulsion actually, something she has no controll over, but enjoys doing it all the same. She's also fairly pissed off at any perceived form of law enforcement. Why else do you think she called Ichigo a pig?

Firekat- Total Bitch doesn't count as a sin does it? She's a massive compilation. She's vain (pride), selfish (greed), mean (wrath), and has a jealous streak (envy)... I'm not even sure wich one comes out on top!

Chupie- TIE: Wrath & Pride. He's a hollow... not a verry good one, but the same fault applies. And while he might be little more than an annoyance, in his own mind he's the biggest badass who's ever stalked the living. Never mind the fact he's never actually sucessfully devoured anyone. His mind is kind of like a politician... spins everything to make himself look good and forgets the bad parts.

Jason- Haven't gotten to use him, but considering he's a slacker, gotta go with Sloth.

Myself- I've got a good steady dose of most of them on a regular basis, much like most people. But if you have to boil it down to what is the greatest, then it would be a tie between pride and envy. I don't really hold myself in a high degree like most proud people are, but if you sit and talk to me for some time, you'd realise that the words 'I', 'me', mine', etc., gets used alot. Thinking of myself comes natrualy, and forgetting about other people, including friends and family, happenes far to many times. And as for envy...basicaly, I want what other people have, I want to do what other people can do, and I want say what other people get away with saying. That about sums up the meaning of envy in a hole, doesn't it?

Spider-Man- His biggest sin would more than likely be wraith. With all the crap that's happened in his life, it's easy to get him to lashing out. He's very protective of the people in his life, and when they get hurt, watch out.

Cyclops- Scott's sin is his pride. He knows what he does is always right, no matter what others my say of the situation. He's is currently the leader of a dieing race of people, and feels can never afford to be wrong about anything. With the experience he has had throughout his life, he has an unshaking confidence that he can hardly do any wrong, and can overcome anything that comes his way. And THAT, will some day be his down fall.

Gambit- Greed, plaining and simple. He was raised to be a thief, and has done so in many area's. From wealth, power and control, and even woman's hearts, deep down Remy Lebeau wants it all.

OC Ion- Due to his current position in the timeline, his sin falls more in the area of sloth. But not in the more current since of being lazy, but in the it's creating during the middle ages. Back then, sloth was in reference to someone who had fallen into a depression, and lacked the will to allow God to save them. Those that were depressed and meloncholy, were seen as sinners, and with his current state as being not only a person through into a different reality, but being a survivor of a team that was oblitorated during COA, he's in a deep depression. Hence, sloth.

Punisher- Frank is the living embodiment of wraith. He hunts down and kills gangsters, drug dealers, gangbangers, killers, hit men, sadists, and the occational supervillian. He will empty out hundreds of clips and metal jackets into countless bodies, all in the name of punishing evil. If that's not a man who's full of hate, than I'm fattest man in the world because I like Twinkies.

Juggernaut- Greed. Period.

Captain America- Fighting Nazies, terrorists, supervillians, cosmic beings, and hippies, all in the name of the good ol' U.S. of A., has to make a man full of pride. He was frozen in a block of ice for a couple decades, hunted by the U.S. government, even died and resurrected twice in the span of two pages, all because of Pride.

Mr. Fantastic- Again, pride. Being arguably the smartest man on the planet will have that affect on you.

NPC Chamber- He's a guy who's had his life taken away because of his powers, and will never again have a normal life because of them. He's as much a sinner of envy as Rogue in that since.

NPC Two-Face- As much as he is full of greed, Harvey's biggist in is wraith. With the flip of a coin, his a capable of performing the most brutal and sudistic acts.

NPC Splinter- Another person with a lot of pride. Pride in his philosiphy, pride in himself, and more of all, pride for his children. Like a father, he is willing to do anything for them, even beat and push them to better them in the arts of ninjitsu. Not just to make them better ninjas, but to protect them from a dangerous world.

NPC Dr. Strangefate- I'd say his sin is more envy than pride. He does not feel that of all the realities spared in the merger, none were more worthy to be saved than his world. He feels they do not deserve to exist, and is willing to bring the Alagam world back, by any means necessary.

NPC- Multiple Man- Sloth would probably be his biggist sin, and by that I mean the lazy part. Much of his decision making was made by others, be it by Dr. Moira MacTaggert in his time on Muir Island, Val Cooper from his time in the government sponsored X-Factor, and even they young precog Layla Miller. Plus, instead of putting the work into learning something himself, he sends out a dupe to learn it for him. (Admittably, I wish I could do that myself)

NPC Forge- Another sinner of pride. For the longest time, even to today, his actions and behavior is gear towards his own being.

NPC Kingpin- Like Tony Montana, he wants the world and everything in it. He is a big greedy bastard, who will buy you, stripe you of your humanity, pump you full of experimental growth hormornes, and sell you for a profit. Or he'll just kill you and sell all of your stuff. Which ever one makes him more money in the long run.

NPC Exodus- One of the most powerful mutants still in existence is a sinner of wraith. He will beat, torture, kill, destory, terminate, obliterate, and annihilate anything and everything in the name of mutant suppremacy. If he was a Nazi, we would all be goosestepping to work right now.

NPC Cremator- Well seeing as how he's already died, this doesn't exactly apply to him. But when he was alive, his sin was a toss up of either greed or wraith, being both a warrior and a theif in his life.

NPC Zemo- He was raised to believe that his and his whole family line is and will always be better than everyone else on this spinning rock, and that the world should forever recognize that. That entire family bleeds pride.

And finaly NPC Thunderbird- Another person how has fight and died for his and his people's pride. (7 total!!!)

Myself: I am Lust personified. It's true. Ask anyone that knows me, and they will verify it.
A little over a year ago, I went with a group of friends, and we all got symbols of our 'sin' as tattoo, and I have a symbol of Lust on my inner right forearm.

As Alice has already pointed out, Lust doesn't have to be sexual. *although I tend to think it's much more fun when it is *

It was originaly called Luxuria, which translates to 'Extravagance'.

The way I see it, ALL the other sins are born of Lust: Wrath is a Lust for violence, envy is a lust for what others have... etc.

To me, Lust is not about having the item you lust for (or in sexual lust, it's not about the orgasm) Lust is about the WANTING of it.

I am insatable. I can't get 'enough', and being fullfilled is only momentary.
Things that I lust for that are gained or completed, are a let down... as it's just over at that point, and no longer fun.

When I want something, sexual or not, I love to languish in the Lust. I like day dreaming of whatever it is I am Lusting for, and imagining it in as many ways as possible in my mind, lingering on it. Enjoying just wanting it.

When I am alone, with my Lust for flesh, I don't just 'get off' by any means. I like to tease my body, and I take my sweet time with it, not merely bringing myself to orgasm, but drawing out the Lustful feelings, raising myself as high as I can, before getting to the end.

My tatoo (it's actually upside down here... but when we were all getting the symbol tats, I told the artist that I didn't want the outline, just solid color, and he asked if he could make look like a paint brush stroke, and after he drew up his rendition of the symbol without an outline, I loved it):





Dawn: Embodies each sin... as a Goddess, it is something she does well too Having many aspects, is something diety is good at.
Though, from reading her comics, I've seen Wrath win out over all in her. (But with a redhead's temper that's to be expected.)





Jean Grey: Gonna say Wrath here, best embodied by her temper outbursts. (not to mention the Dark Phoenix aspect...) ((What do ya know, another red head with a temper))

Poison Ivy: Hehehehehe isn't she just Lust personified as well?

Lady Death: Pride.

X-23: She was born, bred, and trained to be a weapon. And though Wolverine tried to get her to be more human, In recent comics, with X-Force, she has reverted back, and not forward, and still lacks a real personality. I'm gonna say, she hasn't developed her sin yet.

Kami: Wow... this one is harder to nail down than I thought it would be... maybe Pride. (Amazing, my most successful OC, and I really can't tell what her sin is.)

Purgatori: Wrath.

Nasthalthia: Greed. She wants to get Lex to rule the world, just so she can train to take over when he's done... She Lusts for Power in a Greedy way.. :-)

Typhoid Mary: Lust. Her Bloody Mary Personality: Wrath. Her Mary Personality: Sloth. (Sloth was originally acedia/discouragement, a neglect of something that resulted in Sloth, and Mary neglects herself in allot of ways, and then Sloth happens to her, and one of her other personalities takes over.)

Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing: It's a tie: Wrath and Pride. (She may be blond... and not my usual fiery redhead, but she can match any of them in temper blowing.)

Rogue: Envy... do I even have to explain this one?

Magik: Wrath

Black Canary: Pride

Harley Quinn: Glutteny... just read the newest title Gotham Sirens... this girl always has sugar of some kind in her hand... or is grabbing toys.

Cheshyre: I really couldn't tell you. She has the ability to embody any one of them, even at the same time. Or even none at all. You see?

Tarot: Pride. It even got pointed out blatently in one of her comics, her pride got her ass kicked by the god's huntsman. And she mentions that was her lesson.

Nicole Bradstrom: You'll have to ask Dr. Nostra what he's programmed for her to be.

Rukia: This is another one I just don't have a clue on. I've read almost all of the manga up to date, and she doesn't really seem to have any sin to nail specifically.

Gwen Stacey: Lust of life... maybe?

Ms. Marvel: Wrath. almost every comic I've read with her in it, has at least one panel of her punching something or someone.

November: Lust... she is me after all.

Starfire: Envy.

Whitney: Pride... but I would say in her case, pure vanity.

Scream: I have no clue. She was only in about 9 comicbooks. There really isn't that much out there on this character to tell.

Vash the Stampede: Glutteny someone give him another donut.

Sesshomaru: pride.

Siryn: Glutteny. (she was an under age aclaholic)

Silva: Wrath.

Lois Lane: Pride.

Bob: .... no clue.

Luke: Wrath.

Nel Tu: Glutteny

Kenika Ket: Wrath.

and... I think that's all I got.
