First Name: John
Last Name: Proudstar
Alias or Nick-name: Thunderbird
Age: 30
Height/Weight: 6'1"/225 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
Persuasion: Though his intentions are good, he is set to prove he is a Apache warrior, and that can difficult to handle
Powers/Weapons: Thunderbird is a mutant that possesses superhuman strength (sufficient to rip apart a fighter jet with his bare hands), speed (he is fast enough to outrun a bison, possibly much faster), stamina, and durability due to his dense musculature. His senses are also enhanced, enabling him to become a highly adept tracker. Thunderbird has received military training in small arms and hand-to-hand combat.
History: John Proudstar was born into an Apache tribe on a reservation in Camp Verde, Arizona. An exceptionally strong and vigorous athlete in his youth, John's mutant abilities first manifested when he wrestled a charging bison to save a young girl. Proudstar became dissatisfied with the seemingly complacent lives led by his tribes people on the Apache Indian reservation in Camp Verde, Arizona, and he sought to prove he was a warrior in the tradition of his ancestors.
Eventually, Proudstar lied about his age to join the United Stated Marines. Attaining the rank of corporal, he earned a number of medals, including one for rescuing the pilot of a helicopter downed by a thunderstorm during which he witnessed what he believed to be a great bird of lightning in the sky.
After his tour of duty was completed, Proudstar returned to the reservation and was soon approached by ex-newspaper reporter Michael Whitecloud for help in investigating a series of mysterious cancer diagnoses, including Proudstar’s mother. The pair uncovered illegal experiments performed by Doctor Edwin Martynec, himself a mutant who could transform into a hybrid coyote creature. Proudstar battled Martynec before he escaped after setting off an explosion that destroyed his
He was then recruited by Professor Charles Xavier to join his third group of X-Men. Although Proudstar was reluctant to join another white man's crusade, he agreed and assumed the superhero codename "Thunderbird." He assisted the other X-Men in rescuing the original X-Men from Krakoa the mutant island.
After successfully completing his first mission with the X-Men, Thunderbird turned out to be so volatile and ill-mannered that he constantly disrupted the team's synchronization. It should be noted that he often found himself going head to head with Cyclops, the appointed leader of the X-Men. This attitude would not change, and ultimately led to an untimely end for Thunderbird.
Thunderbird had a short career as a hero. The new team's second mission took them to Valhalla Base, Colorado, to combat the supervillain Count Nefaria. Thunderbird and the X-Men battled the Ani-Men. Thunderbird leaped onto an airplane that was carrying Count Nefaria. Despite the urging of Banshee, Thunderbird refused to get off the plane, stating that he would show that he was a true Apache warrior. The plane exploded, killing Proudstar. While Count Nefaria is later revealed to have survived the crash, Thunderbird has so far been considered dead as the result of his headstrong action.
Later, just prior to Thunderbird’s funeral, his younger brother James stole his body and gave him a traditional Apache warrior’s funeral rite. He then later went on to become a member of the militant group X-Force, and then later the X-Men.
**Here is where Thunderbird's history diverts from the regular continuity, and goes into CF!'s**
A few months ago, but over a year according to the our time, John was recruited from limbo to take apart in the Ghost Rider's attempted at defending his newly acquired kingdom from the combined forces of Neron and Sargos. The battle did not come to pass, as the Ghost Rider was able to convince Sargos to break his allegiance to Neron and to turn his sights on a different realm of Hell. Afterwords, Ghost Rider used his 'angel of death' abilities, which he had acquired through his battle with Blackheart, to open two portals: one to Heaven, the other to the land of the living, as a way of challenging the angelic power's by allowing condemned souls to return to Earth.
While some saw this as a trick, Thundbird saw it as an opportunity to return to his people and continue his warrior's path, hoping it will allow him to enter Heaven when he dies again. However, with the powers of the Ghost Rider being some-what new, the exact time and place of John's return was diverted some to the ravaged Earth where Apocalypse has come into power. Here, he is shocked to see the horrors that have befallen normal people, and outraged when he learned of his tribe being slaughtered years ago. He now travels alone, relying on the strength and skills of an Apache warrior, to survive this new Hell.
