[glow=red,2,300]General Rules[/glow]
1- RESPECT- Plain and Simple.
2- In your posts, DO NOT post for the other character without their consent. Example: If your character gives its hand to another for shaking it, do not make the character shake it back. DO NOT post dialog for them. (unless you ask for permission that is.)
3- No permanent harm or killing other characters (unless it is planned out between the players that is. And for curtesy, if this is planned, let a moderator know.)
4- Wait your turn! Skipping people is rude and breaks Rule #1.
If you are confused on turn order, contact a member of staff.
5- No Real Life pictures. This is a comic book board. No movie pics, even if it IS your actual character.
6- ABSOLUTELY NO DIRECT LINKING! We even provide members with a community photobucket account, there is NO excuse for this rule to be broken. If you need any help, contact a member of staff.
7- Multiple characters are allowed on the condition that you can keep up and active with all that you take on.
If you are just starting in our format, we ask that you stick to 2 characters starting out, until you are familiar with the way we play here.
You will need to create a separate account for each new character.
8- Just as they have in the real world, actions on Comic Fun! have consequences. It is understood that what you post in a thread is the final word on that character's actions. Retconning your characters actions because you don't like the outcome is not allowed. If you don't like the way a thread is progressing, you may contact the staff, or whoever you are roleplaying with to resolve the dispute.
9- Be Active! We are an active forum.
We do have patience and understand that there is not always time to be on the Internet. But, if things have been held up for too long, you will receive ONE email from us off of the site. If we don't hear from you, the characters will be released for other people to play.
To avoid losing your characters, there is an AWAY thread on the GENERAL board, I suggest letting us know when it's a planned absence. Or PM a member of staff so that we know what is going on.
10- Some short posts are accepted, sometimes it can be needed.
BUT short posts do NOT give enough character. This is ROLE-PLAYING. You need character. It's basically the only true requirement for play.
It can be extremely rude to the people who are really trying to play.
If a character continues to only write short posts every single time they are here, there will be moderations taken, and possible character limitations given to keep this from being an issue.
11- We are pretty versatile with characters, and almost any comic book can work out here.
The only exception to this is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne Rice, Star Wars, Television, Movie, or video game based characters. If they did not START as a comicbook, they are not available here.
12- When starting a character on the board, we approve character sheets ONE at a time, and we work hard with every member to straighten out any problems that can come up in this process.
You can post without an approval, BUT you MUST post a character sheet first, AND if we do not approve the character, we reserve the right to delete any posts made, once that decision is finalized.
13- When you sign up a character, you must use the format we provide for the character Bio.
This helps us approve the character as quickly as possible within our format.
If you do not use our bio format, you will be asked to repost your bio using it, before it is considered for the approval process.
14- Characterization is important to role play on this forum. Although we allow a large amount of flexibility in play, its important to keep in mind that established canon characters generally act in a specific manner. Although developing them in another direction is quite alright, it doesn't mean that Superman can start burning down Orphanages, or that Thanos should start adopting kittens.
Either of those courses of actions are possible with the correct writing, but it is up to you to explain the change in characterization.
Playing consistently out of character could result in moderations, or even the character being taken away from you.
It is up to the staff discretion to decide if the changes you choose to bring about are acceptable.
[glow=red,2,300]Original Character Rules[/glow]
Our board is designed around Canon comicbooks. Our focus is on comics, it is the only reason I created this board to begin with. But we will concider Original characters, as long as they can be fit into this format.
1- To Qualify for an original character, you must first have an active Canon character on the board.
2- Original characters must be integrated into our format. We reserve the right to turn down those submitted that do not.
3- Your bio needs to have as much detail and information as possible. The more information you provide us with the faster we can get a feel for them and whether or not they'll work in our format.
4- Originals do not have the advantage of knowing canon characters right off the bat. (unless it has been discussed with the other player and understood before hand. Canons and other established members are not obligated to know any original characters.)
[glow=red,2,300]Manga character rules[/glow]
1- If it's a Manga character, it's NOT an anime character.
A lot of popular Mangas have been made into anime, but we are not interested in any other media.
We do not allow movie/cartoon/tv adaptations of comic books on the board, so we will not allow any ANIME characters on the board.
The pictures of your character need to be from the Manga version, and not the anime.
If you're having troubles finding the manga version pictures, PM Staff and we will help you.
We are willing to work out the details and research things to help you with your character. But, if you ONLY know the anime version, and you're not willing to get to know the Manga version, I ask you now to not even bother with it.
[glow=red,2,300]Rules for alternate dimensions Characters, and time lines.[/glow]
There are many different time lines and different dimensions in the comic books, like Marvel's Ultimate time line and the AOA time line, And DC's different Earths.
We will not be creating these on the board. We have enough going on here as it is, and we don't need any more confusion.
But, you can take characters from those time lines, and work out a way to bring them into our universe.
The rules here are simple.
1- In your first post, you MUST show how they got to our time line.
2- You must play the character as they are.
Example, you cannot take the ultimate Jean Grey, and then try to play her like the regular Jean Grey. They both have very different pasts, and different experiences, so they would react in different ways.
They also have different character relationships, so keep that in mind.
3- If the character is already owned in a different form on the site you must have the original owner's permission to use that character. This also applies to clones, dopplegangers, and any other character that is defined by staff as a conceptual copy of another character. The original owner is under no obligation to accept.
Another thing I need to add is this, You cannot take the powers from another dimension/time line and super-impose them on a regular character, that would be incorrect to the comic book, and it's not allowed here.
These rules are enforced on EVERY member.
If there is a rule you do not understand, do not hesitate to PM a member of staff for help.
With these rules in mind, Have Fun!
